Their network accompanies those who regenerate our food systems, protect vital watersheds, and safeguard the knowledge that has long kept ecosystems in balance.

What is 1% for the Planet?
Established in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, One Percent for the Planet holds businesses accountable for their environmental commitments. Business partners pledge to donate at least 1% of their annual total sales to certified Environment Partners, and One Percent for the Planet ensures this promise is realised.
Since its conception, the scheme has placed over £570 million into the hands of those nurturing the pathway to a just and liveable future for all life on Earth.
Our role as an Environment Partner
Any business that is signed up to One Percent for the Planet can now commit to donating a small portion of their sales to The Gaia Foundation. By doing so, they will be supporting work to restore biocultural diversity for future resilience, alongside affectionate allies from Africa to the Amazon.
Since the 1980s, we have been nurturing systemic change that grasps the roots of our problems and grows a regenerative future for all life on Earth.
Gaia’s Seed Sovereignty Programme is supporting a food revolution across the UK and Ireland, while our We Feed The UK programme has reached the eyes and ears of over 53 million people on their pathway from consumer to custodian, through an unprecedented collaboration between the arts and agroecology. In Africa and the Amazon, we are accompanying communities as they revive the eco-centred wisdom of their ancestors and reconnect with nature through a growing Earth Jurisprudence movement. Since our inception, we have supported Indigenous custodians to gain recognition of their rights, allowing them to safeguard the sacred lands and waters that have been protected by their kin since time immemorial.
